International award winning artist, Mary-Anne Murphy creates intimate, sensitive and detailed works photo realistically in charcoal and graphite.
She is able to visually articulate the tenderness of life in her figurative works, landscapes and in a variety of other subject matter. Pottery Mary-Anne is a Woodstock Artist well known for her detailed pencil and charcoal drawings. Recently, she took up pottery and is enjoying the challenges of learning a new art form. "Challenging myself creatively has taken me in many directions. The kind gift of a beautiful pot many years ago, inspired me to turn left creatively toward Pottery. About Mary-Anne
Born and raised in Erinsville, Ontario, Canada, Mary-Anne is living a diverse life and strives to express diversity in her artwork.
She began her studies in the Fine Arts program at the University of Guelph and graduated with minor degrees in Environmental Science and Art History and a major degree in Landscape Architecture. After years of work in the electronics and aerospace industries, striving for personal challenges, Murphy decided in 2006 to devote herself full time to the pursuit of her art.
Now residing in Woodstock, Mary-Anne's focus is capturing the details of everyday life as she explores the world through an infinite variety of subject matter. She uses both charcoal and graphite as a medium to create her highly representational drawings. Mary-Anne has had great success exhibiting in solo, group and juried shows throughout Canada and Internationally. Her drawings are widely sought after and collected.
